In 1996, The Surveillance Camera Players started manifesting their opposition to the culture of surveillance by performing silent, specially adapted plays directly in front of CCTV cameras. 10 years after, their work is more relevant than ever. This talk will take you through artists' strategies to raise the debate on privacy, the society of the spectacle, the aftermath of September 11th, face recognition software, panopticism, electronic tagging, etc.
